Journalism grants available for climate reporting

The Earth Journalism Grants Fund is offering funding to empower and enable journalists from developing countries to cover the environment more effectively. This would be an ideal opportunity for journalists to pursue training on climate reporting.
Journalism grants available for climate reporting

Internews Network and Internews Europe developed the Earth Journalism Network (EJN) to establish networks of environmental journalists in countries where they do not exist and build their capacity where they do, through training workshops and development of training materials, support for production and distribution and dispersing small grants.

The grant's goal is to support the creation, growth, and capacity of journalism organisations focused on reporting the human dimensions of climate change.

Those most vulnerable to climate impacts - often women, youth and indigenous communities - typically have the least influence on how respond to climate risks. Despite bearing the least responsibility for the conditions accelerating climate change, vulnerable and under-represented populations are often the people with the most at stake.

This grant opportunity represents a challenge to journalists throughout the world to facilitate a responsive information ecosystem that more accurately and holistically reflects environmental challenges facing people across the planet.

The deadline for applications is 15 May 2015. For more information, go to wfsj.org.
