Now in its 48th year, the Blisters for Bread Charity Family Fun Walk was set up by the Peninsula School Feeding Association to raise funds and awareness for the plight of hungry learners in the Western Cape. The organisation which to date, has served 1,5 billion meals is driven and inspired by the statement “you can’t teach a hungry child”, currently feeding over 28,000 children at 155 schools daily – for many learners the only hot meals they get in a day. Schools in the programme report improved academic results and morale as a result of these nutritious meals.
Even if your company in not based in the Mother City you can still come on board to support the pressing issue of hunger in our schools, via donations which will assist in building kitchens, buying gas bottles, paying volunteers and other hard costs. A donation of only R395 can make all the difference to a little one by giving them breakfast and lunch at school for a whole year.

The starting point for the event is on Fritz Sonnenberg Road outside the Green Point Cricket Club. The entry fee for Bizters for Bread Corporate Challenge is R100 per person and limited to 12,000 entrants. The first walk which is the 10km will start at 7.30am and the 5km at 8am. This year’s walk is guaranteed to be as entertaining and exciting as previous years.
The two walks start at the same location at the Green Point Cricket Club in Vlei Road. The route then moves along the Mouille Point and Sea Point promenades towards Camps Bay; walkers return to the Green Point Cricket Club via the same route that they took. Refreshment stations are located along the way.

Do note that PSFA and Top Events accept no responsibility for any injury, losses or damage incurred during the walk. If the event is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, no refunds will be given.
Parking is available at the V&A Waterfront and this option is highly recommended to avoid congestion. However, participants can also park at the Green Point A Track (opposite McDonald’s), at the Green Point Flea Market, at Western Boulevard (at the designated parking areas), at the Granger Bay Boulevard and Fritz Sonnenberg parking section (P3), at the Western Boulevard and Vlei Road parking zone (P4) or at Vlei Road at the Green Point Track (P5).

PSFA is a registered non-profit organisation that addresses hunger in young learners attending primary, secondary and special needs schools as well as Orphaned & Vulnerable Children Centres (OVCs), Early Childhood Development Centres (ECDs) and Further Education and Training Centres (FET’s) in the Western Province. Nutritious cooked meals in the form of breakfast and lunch are currently being provided to over 28,000 young people at 155 institutions throughout the Western Cape. PSFA has to date served over 1.5 billion meals to underprivileged school children.
