Both races start in Adderley Street, with the marathon route taking runners towards Rondebosch Common, before looping back to the finish at the Green Point Urban Park.

The races, supported by the City of Cape Town, Cape Town Tourism, Western Cape Government: Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport and Peninsula Beverages, are centred around Heritage Day.
