Business Report says that the repairs could start as early as 2013 if the Japanese government agrees to provide the money that is needed to undertake the work.
The port was seriously damaged ten years ago when it was struck by a cyclone, but the US$300-million investment would return it to its original capacity of 400 000 containers a year, roughly double its current capacity.
