HPCSA extends deadline for submissions on medical tariffs

The Medical and Dental Professions Board of the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) has extended by 21 days the deadline for submissions to determine guideline tariffs for medical and dental services.
HPCSA extends deadline for submissions on medical tariffs

This comes after the board announced in November 2012 that it was embarking on a new process to determine a tariff of fees for medical and dental practitioners to charge for services rendered.

The initial deadline for submissions was 31 January 2013.

The extension is to make up for the lost time during the festive season, and the council will receive comments up to 21 February 2013.

The council announced on Thursday that a new notice incorporating the new deadline will be published in the Government Gazette and in national print media shortly.

The board is calling on all interested parties to forward their submissions on the proposed tariffs for consideration by the board.

"In the new process, the board seeks input regarding all aspects of the methodology and process of determining the guideline tariffs, the appropriate basis (such as the National Health Reference Price List) for the guideline tariffs, how to counteract the effects of inflation, costs and any other relevant factors," the council said.

Interested persons and organisations are invited to submit their written comments to the Registrar for the attention of the General Manager: Professional Boards, by 21 February 2013.

Comments can also be submitted by either post to PO Box 205, Pretoria, 0001; delivering it by hand at 553 Madiba (previously Vermeulen) Street, Arcadia, Pretoria, 0002; or email to az.oc.ascph@mikehb.
