Coldplay makes music video in Western Cape

International rock group Coldplay, which has been touring in South Africa, has filmed a new music video in Cape Town and the Klein Karoo according to the Cape Town Film Commission's chief executive Denis Lillie.

The South African Press Association quotes him as saying the commission received a call from the production company Cinergy Films asking for the commission's assistance in arranging the relevant permissions required for filming.

Lillie says these were "prioritised" so that filming could take place in and around Cape Town and the Klein Karoo during Friday and Saturday last week. The video will be broadcast globally on MTV and other music platforms.

Lillie says that it will not only showcase the talents and abilities of the group but will also show off the natural beauty and vibrant culture of Cape Town and the Western Cape.

The group made its first visit to Cape Town earlier this month and performed to sell-out houses with its electric concerts before moving on to Johannesburg where a blaze of fireworks kicked off the concert at FNB Stadium in Soweto.
