    Lucrative timber farming opportunity

Because of flourishing development and construction activities in South Africa, timber farming near Sabie and Nelspruit has grown into a wealthy forestry industry, with one of the largest man-made eucalyptus and pine tree forests.

Each year millions of cubic metres of wood are felled in South Africa from almost entirely hand harvested trees. The first plantations were a result of conservation in reaction to the indigenous forests being destroyed by the gold rush demands in the 1870s.

On September 20, Van's Auctioneers will sell by public auction a 2 012ha timber farm that is situated about 30km north-west of Nelspruit. The property, Paradise Falls, has panoramic sloping landscapes, and a natural spruit meanders through the farm. It includes a CCA plant with two outbuildings, an office and a charming timber residence with a large wooden patio.

The property borders the R37 main route and is bisected by the Sudwala gravel road. The farm currently comprises a eucalyptus plantation of about 1 244ha, with the age of the plantations varying between two and seven years, with a rotation period of 10 years. There are around 13ha of arable timber land and about 754ha of natural bushveld.

The property will be sold as a going concern and the auction will take place at the premises at 11am.
