Malcolm Horne has been appointed CEO by the company's shareholders, from his current position of MD of the property management division, which he has headed up since 2007. Horne joined Broll in 2003, having had years of experience in property management, following his BA Law from UNISA and experience as a public prosecutor.

Executive chairman of Broll, Jonathan Broll, says, "Horne's appointment to the top operational position within the group recognises his leadership and the significant contribution he has made to the company on all fronts." The company's senior executive team now comprises Broll, Horne and chief operating officer Leonard Michau. "We believe that this structure is ideal for the efficient and focused leadership of the group for the future," adds Broll.

"The property industry is only now beginning to gradually recover from a highly challenging period as a result of the global financial crisis and the recent recession," explains Horne. "We anticipate increasing levels activity in the property market in terms of leasing transactions, redevelopments and with limited new developments."

Horne notes that the demand for property development, management and associated skills is still in its infancy on the African continent, with many new prospects being driven from South Africa.
