Zambezi Airlines and Kenya Airways partnership

Zambezi Airlines (ZJ) in SA has announced that ZJ and Kenya Airways have entered into a commercial partnership that will see the Zambian carrier commence three weekly flights between Lusaka and Nairobi, with onward connections to all the major cities served by the Kenya Airways.

From 2 March, 2010, Zambezi Airlines's business and leisure travellers will be able to purchase tickets for travel to Nairobi with onward connections to any of Kenya Airways' 50 destinations in Africa, the Middle East, the Far East, Asia, Europe and America.

Zambezi Airlines will operate services to Nairobi on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The two airlines announced their partnership at a launch ceremony held in Lusaka recently, which was officiated by the Zambian Deputy Minister of Communications and Transport, the Honourable Mubika Mubika.

Major turning point

Zambezi Airlines chairman, D Maurice Jangulo, said the partnership heralded a major turning point in the brief but eventful history of the airline, which only commenced operations as a domestic carrier on 15 July, 2008.

The chairman explained that, thanks to Kenya Airways' membership of the global Skyteam airline alliance, travellers throughout the world would be able to see Zambezi Airlines' flight schedules and be able to plan their trip utilising the most convenient connections possible.

In order for Zambezi Airlines to achieve its vision of connecting all the SADC countries, he also announced that the airline has acquired a third Boeing 737-500 series aircraft, which will be delivered in three months's time.
