Peermont invests over R20m in the re-launch of Mmabatho Palms

Nestled near the historic city of Mafikeng, South Africa's first casino resort and hotel, Tusk Mmabatho, has undergone a dramatic make-over worth over R20m. In line with Peermont's branding strategy, the resort will assume a new identity and name, Mmabatho Palms, to accentuate its unique positioning as the oasis of entertainment in the North West Province.

A spectacular launch event, which marked the official opening of the new Mmabatho Palms Hotel, Casino and Convention Resort, was held on 25 June 2009. Packed with local entertainment celebrating the Tswana culture, the Premier of the North West Province, Maureen Modiselle, enjoyed the evening together with local celebrities, government officials and Peermont executives. The evening was a colourful celebration of the new brand with the resort demonstrating its commitment to the local community with the donation of R20 000 to Naledi Life Skills Training, a non-government organization (NGO) that provides life skills training for the surrounding community.

Mmabatho Palms has been in existence since 1977. Formerly known as Mmabatho Sun and later renamed Tusk Mmabatho Casino in 2001, the resort underwent its last upgrade 15 years ago.

With sky-high palm trees, lush green grass and an azure blue swimming pool, all public areas of the resort have been completely upgraded, offering business and leisure travellers a haven of entertainment, relaxation and business facilities. The make-over, which includes the upgrade and rebrand of the stylish 4-star Peermont Walmont hotel, the refurbishment of the casino, the addition of a conferencing facility, called the Bagosing Room, and the revamping of the Motswedi Terrace Restaurant and Bar, has transformed Mmabatho Palms into a dynamic resort that entices visitors to relax and unwind.

The driving theme behind the refurbishment is the celebration of the local BaTswana people and their culture.
