Ballet on the big screen

What's the greatest ballet of all time? A tough question, no doubt. Fortunately for Cape Town residents, there's no need to choose just one. That's because The Fugard Bioscope's World Opera and Ballet Season will be screening over a dozen performances over the next 12 months.

First up is Giselle, which will be rescreened due to popular demand on Sunday, 15 July, 2012. From its first performance in 1841, it is considered one of the most influential of all romantic ballets and is one of The Royal Ballet's most popular works.
