Giving back with DJs for Bread

Bigger Than Me, in association with Heart Capital, Black Mango and the Breathe Sunshine Africa Music Conference and BPM Magazine is presenting the DJs for Bread social impact events taking place from 9 to 10 November, 2013. The events combine charity work with fun. People will be able to register for DJs for Bread events and donate their time to the Food Pods project in Phillipe taking place on 9 November. Once they have donated their time, they will effectively earn a free ticket to the DJs for Bread gig taking place on 10 November at Fiction at 8pm.

Not volunteering will mean payment for entrance to the gig for the amount of R50 from Webtickets. Money received from ticket purchases will be donated towards the Food Pods project.

Greg Viljoen from Bigger Than Me said: "The whole point of the concept is about being Bigger Than You 'Me' and giving back to something that not only empowers people, but is also sustainable in the long run."

On 9 November the project will be a celebration of food, highlighting the issue of food security in South Africa. Volunteers can expect to plant seeds, transfer seedlings to other growing pods as well as harvesting produce for the actual Food Pods that will be distributed through the Food Pods network in Phillipe. On 10 November the gig will be the reward element of the DJs for Bread campaign and volunteers will gain free access to Fiction in Long Street, Cape Town if they donated their time and volunteered on the 9th. Starting at 8pm, the DJ line-up includes:
