About the designers

  • Henk Ovink - Senior Advisor for Water Management to the Obama administration. As Acting Director General for Spatial Planning and Water (Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment in the Netherlands), Ovink currently strengthens the Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Task Force in the USA.

  • Kurt Ward - Head of Design at Philips, he responsible for using design-thinking to support strategic alliances and collaborations.

  • Frank Houben - Director of Communication and Corporate Identity at KLM. Throughout the years, Houben redefined KLM's brand strategy and values and introduced a new corporate identity.

The experts have been invited to Design Indaba on behalf of Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Cape Town, Bonnie Horbach, who, since her appointment in in 2013, has made it her mission to bring together Dutch and South African counterparts to co-create solutions for local challenges.

Further to this, Horbach launched the #cocreateSA platform and fund as her legacy to World Design Capital Cape Town 2014.

Their three individual programmes will merge on two occasions that are open for the public: a Dutch design-thinking seminar at Stellenbosch University on Friday 27 February from 9am to 11am, and at Educator's Indaba on 28 February, from 8.30am to 12pm at the Cape Town International Conference Centre.

Reservations for those who would like to attend are available.
