South Africa bids for Mr Gay World

Brian Merriman, director: Africa & Europe of Mr Gay World, announced to the audience at the grand finale of Mr Gay South Africa 2010, recently held at The Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City, Johannesburg, that not only did South Africa produce the best national competition, but that he will be supporting South Africa as the host country for the international event in 2012.

The organising company has announced that it has officially lodged a letter of intent with the organisers of Mr Gay World and its president, Eric Butter, for South Africa to be the host country for Mr Gay World 2012. The current Mr Gay World is South African, Charl van den Berg.

The 2011 competition will be held in Manila, Philippines during March 2011, which the current Mr Gay South Africa, Francois Nel from Centurion, will attend as the South African entrant. He will be escorted by the bid committee, director of operations Coenie Kukkuk, financial director Barry Vorster and logistics manager John-Louis O'Neil, who will make a presentation, including a welcoming video to the country.
