A lightning course on editing at SABF

At the South African Book Fair literary event the Professional Editors' Guild (formerly the Professional Editors' Group) will be hosting an event entitled "A lightning tour of editing".
A lightning course on editing at SABF

This talk - given by Lia Marus, who sits on the PEG executive committee and is an experienced editor herself - will enlighten visitors about the process of editing and will take them through the practical aspects of what it takes to be an editor. Specific questions to be addressed will include:

    • What are the different forms of editing?

    • How does editing process work?
    • What resources and skills do you need in order to become an editor?

    • What is it essential for an editor to know?

At the end of the talk, visitors will have an opportunity to try their hand at editing a piece of text.

The SABF is organised by PASA (Publishers' Association of South Africa) in association with the FP&M SETA. It will take place at the Turbine Hall, Newtown, Johannesburg from 31 July to 2 August 2015. Lia's talk is scheduled for Sunday 2 August at 14:30 in the Achebe Room.
