Experience South Africa's top wines at public tasting

The Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show, one of South Africa's premier wine competitions that recognise the top local wines and winemakers and honours excellence in the wine industry will see judging of the 2012 entries take place from 7-10 May with the announcement of the 2012 winners on 30 May.

The public tastings will take place in Sandton on Friday 8 June and in Cape Town on Friday 15 June.

Judges

This year's judges, led by Michael Fridjhon, comprise three international judges and six local ones. The international judges are Brian Croser (winemaker and industry icon, Australia); Anthony Rose (UK and Asian wine columnist) and Tom Cannavan (Scottish wine blogger and UK wine broadcaster).

The South African judges are Ginette de Fleuriot CWM (marketing manager, Vinimark), Gary Jordan (proprietor winemaker, Jordan Wines), Christian Eedes (wine writer and blogger), Angela Lloyd (wine judge and writer), James Pietersen (head sommelier of Belthazar and Balducci restaurants) and François Rautenbach hHead, Premier Wine Programme, Singita Lodges). The participation of a team of associate judges, drawn from the pool of rising South African winemaking and judging talent, is included in a supportive capacity.
