First designers for MBFWJ16 announced

Starting with this year’s edition, which is set to take place from 10 to 12 March, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Joburg 2016 will showcase Autumn and Winter collections from the country’s leading designers against a dramatic backdrop created especially for the event.

Designers already confirmed to put their latest collections on show include international success story David Tlale, as well as doyennes of local fashion Stefania Morland, Leigh Schubert, Khosi Nkosi, and Tamara Dyson. Details of other designers showing their collections will be released in due course.

“Hosting this iconic event in the heart of bustling Sandton opens up an established platform to new possibilities,” said Sizwe Nzimande, group marketing manager of AFI. “Our partnership with JHI Retail, which manages the two centres, means that the impact of the event will extend beyond the shows – Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Joburg will be the talking point of all who visit the Sandton district, putting this fashion spectacular at the heart of the city’s zeitgeist for its duration.”

Tickets to the shows will be available at Webtickets and will cost from R100 to R250 per ticket.
