Automated 360° digital camera arrives in SA

Virtual tours are increasing in popularity on the web but require excellent photography and editing to produce a seamless 360° effect. Giroptic, France has created reputedly the world's first automated 360° digital camera, which takes high-quality panoramic shots with just one click, is now available in South Africa.

The Giroptic 360 comes with an online platform, which instantly transforms photos into ready to use virtual tours. There is no software to install on the computer or manual to read - it simply a case of click, load, stream.

    High quality in poor light

The High Dynamic Range (HDR) technique consists of merging several shots of a classic scene to obtain the more information possible on the light and dark areas of the photo. By clicking once on the shutter, the default HDR mode will take three photos successively at three different levels of exposure, under exposure, normal exposure and over exposure. These three files will automatically be mixed in the system platform to obtain a single picture of optimal quality. Users can produce virtual tours of very high quality even in dark rooms and substantially mitigate overexposure of window effects.

    Virtual tours accelerate business

It makes business sense for websites to offer the best possible product and the best visually is virtual tours. Radisson Hotels has managed to track the success of its virtual tours; those with a virtual tour achieved 135% increase in online revenue amounting to $7,200 per hotel per month over those without a virtual tour.

    Local representation

After recognising the international growth of online real estate marketing and Internet based real estate businesses, Roan van Antwerpen and Marco Agolino successfully negotiated the exclusive distribution of the brand in South Africa and launched Giroptic South Africa late last year.

The company will be offering virtual tour services targeting all industries and has a future strategy that includes joint venture opportunities not only in South Africa but stretching north as far as Morocco.
