TFG announces gift card design competition winner

South African retail fashion brand, TFG (The Foschini Group), on Friday, 12 October 2012, hosted a prize giving lunch for the top three gift card designs, following a call to design students at top local tertiary institutions to redesign its gift cards.

Kathryn Sakalis, TFG CRM and communications general manager; Nicol Rademeyer, Markham visual merchandise manager; Craig Native, fashion designer; and Dion Chang, trends analyst and freelance trends writer were the judges in attendance at the prize giving which took place at The Test Kitchen in Cape Town.

"Since design and innovation are such an integral part of TFG's culture, it was only natural that we decided to run a student design competition. The 2012 Gift Card competition compliments design competitions run by the group, specifically for fashion students over the past ten years." says Sakalis.

And the winner is...

The winning design was created by Loucelle Mohanlal from Inscape Design College, Rosebank who received a R25 000 TFG Gift Card to be used at any one of the group's retail outlets nationwide. In addition to the grand prize, TFG will donated R10 000 to Inscape Design College in Pretoria towards a bursary for a promising and passionate design student.

Second and third place went to Kobie Nieuwoudt and Matthew Crisp respectively, both are students at students at Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) in Cape Town. As runner up Kobie received a TFG gift card to the value of R10 000 and Matthew a R5 000 gift card.
