Commercial Producers Association takes positive steps with new Transformation Charter

The Commercial Producers Association of South Africa (CPA) held their AGM in Cape Town on 14th August to elect their new Executive Committee and to focus on issues which will ensure the growth and sustainability of the local and international Commercial Film Industry in South Africa.

The CPA who represent 92% of all producers of Commercial Film work in South Africa have laid the foundations of new initiatives in their Transformation Charter to encompass talent and creativity from all sectors of the population and to redress the past imbalances in employment and ownership. This includes a commitment to recruitment, training and development within the diverse human resources available in this country in keeping with the CPA's prime objective to foster the highest professional and ethical standards within the industry.

Peter Gird (Executive Producer/ Peter Gird Productions) comments, "Our aim is to harness creativity that is as diverse as our human resources and to mentor new and talented people into management with the goal of widening ownership of member companies." Gird adds, "Together with our colleagues in the Creative Directors Forum, this technical ability and soaring creativity will produce a truly South African commercials production sector dedicated to excellence in customer service and play a major role in discouraging marketers from importing foreign commercials."
