Jury Presidents for London International Awards

The London International Advertising Awards is the world's fastest growing competition of its kind, with a tradition of setting records for numbers of entries and participating countries. Barbara Levy, President of the London International Advertising Awards and Vice President, Danielle Sterrie are pleased to announce the Jury Presidents for this year's festival.

PAUL LAVOIE, President and Creative Director of TAXI, Toronto and Montreal will select the Grand Prizes in Television/Cinema, Radio, Print and Outdoor. Having spent six years as Creative Director at Cossette Montreal, LAVOIE co-founded TAXI in 1992 with the core belief that a small team of experts (just enough to share a cab) should take responsibility for every dimension of a brand.

Last November, TAXI was named by Marketing Magazine as agency of the year. The company boasts a wide range of prestigious clients which range from MINI to Viagra!

In the past year alone, TAXI's work has been recognized at virtually all the major international shows. Lavoie has recently started to direct some of his own work and his first three efforts have yielded between them awards from LIAA, Cannes, One Show, Clio.

ANETTE SCHOLZ, Creative Director and founder of Scholz & Volkmer, Wiesbaden, Germany will judge Interactive Media. SCHOLZ co-founded her company the very year she graduated and in just eight years has established it as one of the most successful and highly regarded German multimedia agencies in the world.

Not only was Scholz and Volkmer honoured by Horizont last year as Germany's most creative multimedia agency, it was voted number one in the Advertising Age International Creative New Media ranking. From the mid Nineties, the agency has scooped LIAA awards, The Cannes Grand Prix, Cannes Cyberlions, Clio, Epica and German Multimedia Awards.

MR. TATSUMI INUZUKA, founder of Inuzuka Design Office, Tokyo will chair the jury for Package Design. He founded Inuzuka Design Office in 1990. The company has won the World Star Award from the World Packaging Organization, NY PCD Awards and Gold and Silver trophies in the Japan Package Design Awards.

MR INUZUKA has a keen interest in animation and has designed characters for Suntory (SHIMIJIMI the cat), Platz Kintetsu Department Store (Plakky) and Nihon Shokken (BANSANKAN BANKO). He has also published two books, co-writing '10 Package Designers' and 'Theory of happiness by uncle TOUCH' (Uncle TOUCH is the official character for FUJITSU).

After extensive research, London International Advertising Awards will be changing the manner in which their Print entries are submitted. Until now, all work was required to be submitted on 35mm slides. Following feedback from previous jurors, entries must now be submitted on proof sheets, which will be used for the actual judging. This is to ensure that the ads' quality is not compromised.

The LIAA competition remains one of the most demanding in the industry. There are no gold, silver and bronze medals, only winners and finalists. There can be only one winner per category - the recipient of our solid bronze winged statue that has become synonymous with international excellence in advertising.

LIAA was founded in 1985 to honor the world's most creative television/cinema commercials, print advertisements, package design and radio commercials. The program now includes interactive media. The scoring criteria are creative excellence rather than marketing effectiveness.

The black-tie ceremony will be held on Monday, November 11th 2002 at London's Royal Lancaster Hotel. The entry kits will be distributed in late April when they will also be available on the website www.liaawards.com
