A number of Ugandan journalists were blocked by security forces from accessing the national airport at Entebbe to cover the return of an army officer, General David Sejusa (formerly Tinyefuza) who sparked off a controversial debate in an alleged ploy dubbed 'The Muhoozi project' in which the president's son, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, would ascend to the presidency. However, General Sejusa - who is the coordinator of intelligence services did not return as expected, due to unknown reasons.

This years event coincided with the East African Public Relations Conference (EAPRC) which took place from 20-22 March in Kampala, Uganda.

MTN Uganda plans to deploy Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in Uganda during the coming months, reportedly being the first to offer this technology in East Africa. Popularly known as 4G, LTE is a 'standard for wireless communication of high-speed data for mobile phones and data terminals'. A 4G system provides mobile ultra-broadband internet access.
